There are Action Figures, Barbie Dolls, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Celebrity Dolls, Kewpie Dolls, Paper Dolls, Betsey Wetsy, Bratz Dolls, Porcelain Dolls, Strawberry Shortcake, Teddy Bears and ethnic dolls as well. The purpose of Doll Collecting is to get the best collection possible. The person who has a better collection is most often asked to have their dolls displayed in shows and museums.
Dolls are made of the most diverse material. China Dolls, Wax Dolls, Plastic Dolls, Leather Dolls, Rubber Dolls, Clay Dolls, Bone Dolls, Wood Dolls and the ever popular Paper Mache Dolls. The earliest doll has been dated back to 2000 BC and maybe even before. There are different types of Doll Collectors, there are the ones who search high and low to get the most ethnic and far away doll to those to stick to collecting one type of doll.
As strange as it sounds but there are some men doll collectors, they usually collect the action figures and the ethnic dolls that are from all around the world. There isn’t a little girl walking around today who does not have at least 2 baby dolls and Teddy Bears. Teddy Bears are dolls but they seem to command their own collector’s title. You can find dolls any place, in Vintage stores, online stores, EBAY, Craig’s List and garage sales believe it or not sometimes have a great find.
Doll collecting is a great hobby and some people make it a career. It is very interesting to see someone’s collection of different types of dolls and really see what kind of dolls that people all around the world have. If you are into doll collecting to make money, the older and more exotic dolls command more money.
